but the 5 string bass has the additional low B string and the 6 string has an additional low B and high C.

There's many names for this instrument. Upright bass, double bass, string bass, bull fiddle, "the big girl," the big bass," and many others.

Alternate Tunings:

A tuning (low to high, A-D-G-B-E-A).
This is a little lower tuning.
You would probably like a little heavier strings if you use this tuning.
You'll get a rubber band feel and sound with light gauge strings.

Note: The standard guitar is tuned five semitones higher than the baritone, but the relative tuning of the strings remains the same.  That is, if you put a clamp (capo) on the fifth fret of the baritone, the tuning would be E A D G B E.  Here's a table to help you remember how to change chord positions:

So if you fingered what would be a standard guitar F chord on a baritone guitar, it would in fact be a C chord. See above.
